SmulSkulz 11 begins the second wave of the SmulSkulz collection, continuing the exploration of impermanence and materiality. By pairing a handcrafted mosaic with a digitally decaying animation, this piece bridges the fleeting and enduring, inviting reflection on the transformation of digital imagery into a tangible artifact.

Physical Mosaic

  • Materials: 3,204 semi-transparent acrylic tiles adhered to canvas.

  • Dimensions: 4.5 x 6.5 inches, mounted on an 8.5 x 11-inch acid-free backing board. The piece is signed by the artist, is ready for display, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

  • Uniqueness: Each mosaic is a one-of-a-kind creation. It captures a single animation frame before digital decay occurs, transforming the untouched digital image into a tangible artifact.

Digital Animation

  • Description: The animation unfolds over 90 seconds, employing glitch techniques to simulate the progressive decay of digital data. Hand-drawn 'boiled' linework adds a human element, enriching the narrative of impermanence.

  • Exclusivity: The full-resolution (2000 x 2000), unwatermarked animation is exclusive to the NFT owner. A shorter, watermarked preview is available for public viewing.

Availability

  • Release Date: SmulSkulz 11 will be available in Wave 2, launching on March 25, 2025.

  • Reservation: Reservations are now open. Collectors can contact the artist directly to secure their piece, with limited availability on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ownership Includes

  • The signed physical mosaic, ready for display.

  • The NFT containing the high-resolution animation, minted on the Ethereum blockchain.

  • Exclusive access to the unwatermarked animation file post-purchase.

SmulSkulz 11 marks a new chapter in the SmulSkulz collection, offering collectors a chance to engage with the interplay of digital and physical forms. As part of Wave 2, it continues the collection’s ongoing reflection on impermanence and preservation.
